Dilated loops of fluid filled small bowel with visible peristalsis, but without bowel wall thickening or free fluid to suggest perforation.
Small bowel obstruction demonstrated by dilated loops (c 3-4cm) of fluid filled small bowel with too (above) then fro (below) fluid movement indicating this is a loop close to the transition point. Plain abdominal films were normal as this was a closed loop obstruction. Bowel wall thickness is normal and there is no evidence of bowel wall gas that would indicate infarction.
